Summer Hanging Baskets Arrive in the Precinct

The summer hanging baskets have arrived in the precinct and are a welcome boost of colour.

Thank you to Terri Bell for making them and Matt Eggens for hanging them up.

Pill in Bloom refreshes the hanging baskets twice a year; there is a summer display and a winter/spring display.

Amazing New Precinct Planters May 2026

Thanks to all of the Pill in Bloom volunteers for their help with the new planters in the precinct and bus stop.

Looking great for the market, official opening and dedication of Mark’s bench on Saturday 16th May from 10am 🌸🌸.

Help with the new Precinct Planters - 13 May 5pm

We are very excited that the new Pill bus hub and precinct will incorporate three new planters. Two of these planters will be near the new benches on the precinct; one will be on the opposite side to brighten up the new stop to Portishead.

These are large round aluminium planters to match the design of the new precinct.

We have been working on the plants to go in the planters. It would be lovely if you can spare any time that you have to volunteer with the planting on the 13th May 2026 at 5pm. This will make the grand re-opening of the precinct extra special on the 16th of May.

Pill Street Garden Ideas - Please give us your thoughts

We have been working on the designs for Pill Street and would love your thoughts on the proposed plants and layout. You can comment at the bottom of the page or reach us in the usual ways. We are looking to make decisions by mid-May 2026.

We are aiming for a wildlife-friendly, drought-resistant, and low-maintenance space that everyone can enjoy that can be maintained by our small volunteer group. The plants need to be people and animal friendly as this is a public space.

It was great to see new faces and old friends at the March work party. Tidying up around the main beds and starting to tackle the boat’s spring clean 💪💪💪.

Thanks to the volunteers who helped at the boat to take out the oversize conifers and to replant in the gaps that were left. All ready for summer colour 🌺🌷🌼

Pill in Bloom is supported financially primarily with a grant from Pill & Easton-In-Gordano Parish Council for which we are very grateful. We are always open to looking at other sites around Pill and Easton-In-Gordano, regardless of ownership.

The greatest gift you can give to the organisation is your time. If you want to do this please consider becoming a member.

However, the work we do in all locations costs money, mostly for the plants, tools, composts and other consumables that we use in addition to the overheads of running the society.

We have some exciting news - Pill in Bloom has been given the green light to transform the grass area opposite The King’s Head into a beautiful new garden. To make this a success, we need your help. We are aiming for a wildlife-friendly, drought-resistant, and low-maintenance space that everyone can enjoy. Since we are a volunteer-led group with a small budget, we’re looking for “plant power” and “people power” from our neighbours.

The website has been enhanced to show where all of the Pill in Bloom maintained planters, tubs and beds are. Pill in Bloom volunteers source and manage the plants and compost. We are always looking for help with watering especially during drier months.

The planters and tubs are the property of Pill and Easton-In-Gordano Parish Council and we are really grateful for their continued support.

This is Pill in Bloom’s current constitution wording. The constitution was drafted in October 2025, signed by three trustees in February 2026 and formally adopted at the Set Up meeting on 3rd March 2026.

PILL IN BLOOM CONSTITUTION (2025)

1. NAME

The name of the organisation shall be PILL IN BLOOM (the Society)

PILL IN BLOOM is a voluntary RHS Affiliated Society set up to maintain flower beds, planters and hanging baskets within the Parish of Pill & Easton-in-Gordano.

Becoming a Member

Membership of Pill in Bloom is determined by our constitution.

There are two classes of membership:

Full Membership for volunteers over the age of 18.
Associate Membership for those under the age of 18.

Membership runs from April to March. If you wish to help out with the society’s objectives including helping with planters and bed maintenance please consider becoming a member.

Membership is free to volunteers. We accept donations as well if you do not want to be a member.

Pill in Bloom Accepted as a RHS Affiliated Society

Pill in Bloom is very excited to enter the next chapter of its long history. We are delighted to have been accepted as a RHS Affliated Society.

This is key to moving from a Parish Council run activity to an independent group supported by a Parish Council group.

Being an RHS Affiliated Society provides both our members and the society with a number of benefits.

Thank you to all of the current volunteers for Pill in Bloom who joined the set up meeting at Pill Community Centre on 3rd March 2026.

This was an important meeting which set the way in which we will move forward as a society.
